About Brembo

Brembo was founded in 1961 in Paladina, near Bergamo in Italy, by Emilio Bombassei, his sons Sergio and Alberto, and his brother-in-law Italo Breda. It started as a small family-run mechanical workshop and moved into brake discs at a time when they were still uncommon. In 1975 Enzo Ferrari chose Brembo brakes for his Formula 1 cars, and Brembo has raced at the top level ever since.

Brembo made the first aluminium brake caliper for cars in 1980. Its headquarters is now at Kilometro Rosso, just outside Bergamo, and it has been the exclusive brake supplier to Formula E since 2019. Today the Brembo group designs, makes and sells braking systems for original equipment, the aftermarket and racing.
