Model S Stainless Steel Boot Strut Ball Extensions pack of 4.

The Tesla Model S Boot strut mounts suffers from rust, not what you would expect from a £50,000 plus car. There is a solution, get your local service centre to replace the mounts like for like every 12 months of so, or buy stainless steel versions from EV Accessories.
Pack Contents
4x Stainless Steel Boot Strut Ball Extensions – one pair for each side.
They are simple to fit and replace – literally unclip the strut and unbolt, and refit new stainless steel ball extensions.
Safety Advice
You will need to support the weight of the boot lid whilst fitting these ball extensions. The boot lid will not stay in position on one support. It may take 15 mins per side to change and you wont hold it for that long.
Tools Required.
- 13mm ring spanner, ideally a flexible head ratchet such as this one on Amazon.
- Small flat bladed screw driver for for strut clips.
- Cloth for cleaning.
- Silicone Grease to re-grease ball caps. Available here.
- Clean the old thread lock out of the sockets before refitting. Thread lock should be used.

There are not too many standard parts on a Tesla that rust and look unsightly but these tailgate lift mounts certainly manage it after a year or two. This problem is very easy to solve by fitting these stainless steel replacements. Cheaper, better and longer-lasting than the original fitment.
