This gas strut (gas spring) holds the tailgate open on the second-generation Nissan Leaf (ZE1). It is 556 mm long with a 187 mm stroke and 520 N of force, and the same strut fits the left and right side.
Replace the struts when the tailgate will not stay open, drops on its own or needs lifting the last part of the way. Struts lose pressure with age and cold weather.

Installation
Easy to fit. Prop the tailgate securely before removing the old strut, prise the clips with a small screwdriver and push the new strut on to its ball studs. Replace both sides together.
